The Good Plan™

Your Guide to Financial Independence

Much of personal finance is fairly easy. Make money, spend money. Sprinkle in some other stuff like saving and investing and most people get the general idea. However, if you’re like most, you are inundated with guidance, suggestions, news headlines, social media posts, and more all telling you to do something with your money. There are thousands of different things you could, from living it up (aka spend all your money) to investing every penny, to becoming debt-free, to getting a mortgage. Here’s the thing, every decision even has a whole world of sub-decisions.

This is where The Good Plan™ comes in. Most people don’t want to become be-all, end-all experts on all things personal finance. Most people just want to know what to do so they can live the rest of their lives how they please. That’s the idea of The Good Plan™, to literally tell you what you should do next. It was named The Good Plan™ because it’s a generally good way of managing your finances.

Eventually you may want to personalize things, but if you complete The Good Plan™, we’re confident you’ll be very financially healthy. Do these things, then go enjoy your life.

It’s simply good for you.

The Concept

The Good Plan™ is predicated on the idea that most people simply want actionable advice on what to do with their finances. In the spirit of that idea, The Good Plan™ uses Next Best Steps. If you go through the curriculum, you’ll be told precisely what you should financially be doing next. No more guessing. Just follow the instructions.

There are 9 Next Best Steps. We’re confident that if you do everything exactly as prescribed, you’ll end up in a better place than when you started and financial independence won’t just be a dream, it’ll be within your grasp.

Who Made This?

Luke DeBoer, founder of The Financial Planner Co. created The Good Plan™. Being routinely asked by friends, family, and people he’d meet, what he thought of so-and-so financial product or strategy he came to the realization that there are a lot of people drowning in information. There are so many financial products, strategies, and tactics out there. What’s the non-expert to do?

Thus was born The Good Plan™. Not designed to be perfect and not designed to be personalized. Rather, it’s designed to be good. Just like if everyone ate vegetables, got daily sunshine, did a little exercising, and slept enough hours every day then everyone would be generally healthy, so it is true with personal finance. If we all did some pretty basic things we could all be generally financially healthy.
